The Island in Miami, USA The African American Performing Arts Community Theatre (AAPACT) starts it’s 2002-2003 theatre season with The Island. The director is Andre’ L. Gainey and the actors are Teddy Harrell, Jr. and Kristoff Skalet.The play runs every weekend from 8 Nov- 1 Dec 2002, 8:00 p.m. with Sunday 3:00 Matinees. The two actors are Samson Khumalo and Mark Wakeling, plus the voice of Christopher Wells. The director is Mark Graham. Proceeds from the play go to COTSLANDS- an independent South African non-profit organisation caring for abandoned, abused and AIDS children.

The Island with John Kani and Winston Ntshona. The Island is at The Old Vic, London (click here for details). This is the National Theatre production, with John Kani and Winston Ntshona. It will run from 14 Jan to 13 Apr 2002. After this is transfers to The Theatre Royal, Bath (click here for details) 15-20 Apr 2002. then it moves to The Lowry, Salford (click here for details) 22-27 Apr 2002.

Statements after an Arrest under the Immorality Act is in rep at the Latchmere Theatre, London. The director is Charlie Simpson. The box office phone number is 020 7978 7040. New York- Second Stage Theatre, 307 West 43rd St. / 8th Ave, from 15 Jan 2002. This is the play´s off-Broadway premiere. The production is directed by Athol Fugard, with Susan Hilferty as Associate Director/Set Designer/Costume Designer. The cast are John Glover, Marcy Harriell, Judith Light, and Charlayne Woodard. The Guest. There is a rare chance to see the film The Guest. This was written by Fugard and he also stars as Eugene Marais. The director was Ross Davenish and the co-star is Marius Weyers. Marais (Fugard) is persuaded to retreat to an isolated farm in the Western Transvaal. Whilst there however he falls into a tormented spiral of drugs and despair and is left to confront his demons, both from his past and present. There will be a special post film discussion with Athol Fugard and Marius Weyers. This is at the Tricycle Theatre, London where Sorrows and Rejoicings is being performed (see details below). 26 Mar 2002 so you have to be quick!!
