in London, UK 4.48 Psychosis which played recently at the Old Red Lion is revived at the Arcola Theatre. Tangram Theatre Company and Jana Manekshaw present 4.48 Psychosis from 24 April to 20 May 2006. The actors are Efi Dementi, Emily Randall, Géhane Strehler, Pola Anton, Rebecca Pownall, Tessa Nicholson, Tracey-Anne Liles. The director is Daniel Goldman, the producer is Jana Manekshaw, the production stage manager Kirsten Turner, lighting by Lawrence Stromski, design Margaret Krawecka and sound Adan Doran. "A dynamic new chorus production of Sarah Kane’s last play... 4.48 Psychosis is Sarah Kane's brutal and poetic exploration of a mind preparing to shut itself down. Spiked with gallows humour, Sarah Kane's fifth and final play charts the journey of mind and body; from darkness into light, from pain into love, from life into death." Benjamin Davis in Time Out (8-15 Mar 2006) says "A chorus of seven women chime with Kane's beloved (Greek) themes (love, death, sacrifice)... Director Daniel Goldman has done a fine job of creating an uncomfortable, essential experience".

Purificati (Cleansed) in Toscana, Italy
Cleansed is performed in Italian at the Fondazione Teatro Metastaso Toscana, Italy. It is Städtische Bühnen Münster from 10-12 May 2006. The director is Marco Plini and the actors are Milutin Dapcevic, Silvia Ajelli, Roberto Salemi, Michelangelo Dalisi, Giuseppe Sangiorgi, Diego Sepe and Gaia Insenga. "Sarah Kane appare come il modello esemplare di una generazione che non ha mai conosciuto quel famoso mondo pieno di promesse di cui sognavano le generazioni precedenti. Una generazione per cui il futuro è gravido di minacce, in cui la barbarie ha occupato ogni spazio pubblico e privato. Con Purificati Sarah Kane scende all’inferno, nelle stanze più profonde dell’anima, e vi trova un desolato paesaggio di rovine che manifesta una crisi profondissima. Il testo appare così un percorso incredibilmente complesso alla ricerca della propria identità sessuale ed esistenziale. Un percorso di dolore in cui le figure si sdoppiano ed ogni passaggio di coscienza è caratterizzato dalla sofferenza e dalla tortura, come nella buona tradizione inglese del teatro elisabettiano. Appare quindi straordinario questo tentativo di raccontare l’assoluta crisi dell’individuo dando una forma autonoma e moderna a modelli tradizionali, descrivendo un ‘’inferno sensibile’’ in cui l’identità si confonde nella disperata ricerca d’amore, percepito come bisogno vitale, ma legato in modo indissolubile al dolore e alla violenza." Blasted, touring UK
In Spring 2006, Graeae take Blasted on a national tour. "This bold new interpretation, by Artistic Director Jenny Sealey, will extend your idea of what is possible in theatre." Jenny Ellison plays Cate, Gerard McDermott plays Ian and David Toole plays the soldier. Graeae is a disabled-led theatre company which profiles the skills of actors, writers and directors with physical and sensory impairments. The artistic approach creates aesthetically accessible productions that include a disabled and non-disabled audience. Artistic Director Jenny Sealey says "I have always known about Blasted, but I did not really discover the play until recently when I worked on it with two blind directors and a team of actors. We found the play lent itself perfectly to the Graeae aesthetic, and provided fascinating opportunities for us to take a creative approach to interpreting otherwise non-verbal communication within the script. Directing a Graeae cast in a play in which so many metaphors surrounding disability exist will present unique challenges. We must ensure the actors own these metaphors. We believe the roles played by someone who is disabled will excavate so much more of Kane’s language and that will emerge from a personal connection with the text. This promises to be an extremely exciting and potentially explosive interpretation. Blasted remains one of the most cutting edge plays of 20th Century and with only 4 main productions in the UK and in the light of recent events in Iraq and the London bombings this piece remains a testament to the world we live in." The dates are: "Crave is een zoektocht naar liefde – het onbereikbare van liefde, het ongrijpbare van liefde, het hunkeren naar liefde – in een aaneenschakeling van gedachten, een vloedgolf van indrukken en gevoelens uit het binnenste van de mens. In Crave spreken vier naamloze personages, twee mannen en twee vrouwen. Het heeft geen werkelijke plot, geen tijdsverloop, geen plaatsaanduiding en geen werkelijke dialoog.
