Crave in Christchurch,
NZ
|
Scopophilia Productions
present Crave from 14-18 Dec 2004 in
Christchurch, New Zealand, at Creation. The
director is Erin Harrington and the actors are
Gene Banyard (A), Jessica Lust (C), Ed Lust (B)
and Eve Barlow (M).
Its certainly very
dark, and even terrifying in parts, says
director Erin Harrington, but it has an
almost uncanny beauty to it as well.....
Its such a painful and desolate piece but
it is very uplifting, and occasionally very
funny, in its own twisted way. It is one of the
most brutally honest things I have ever
read.
It is the first time that any of Sarah Kane's
works have been staged in the South Island.
Thanks to Erin for the
information. Click on the image for more

Blasted in Finland
|
KokoTeatteri perform Blasted in Helsinki,
Finland. It runs from 9 Nov 2004 to 21 Jan
2005. The actors are Henry Hanikka
(Ian), Ilari Johansson (soldier) and Anna
Veijalainen (Cate).
"Blasted on sadistisen kaunis kuvaus
sisällissodan runtelemasta kaupungista, jossa
väkivalta, Kanen omien sanojen mukaan,
vain tapahtuu ilman dramaattista nostetta
ja sen laatu on kauheata. Tapahtumat
sijoittuvat hotellihuoneeseen kaupungissa ja
valtiossa joka on sisällissodassa. Ian (Henry
Hanikka), keski-ikäinen journalisti, ja hänen
entinen, hieman yksinkertainen,
tyttöystävänsä Cate (Anna Veijalainen)
tulevat viettämään yön hotelissa. Ianin
julmuus Catea kohtaan hakee rajojaan sekä
henkisesti että fyysisesti. Pian tämän
jälkeen huoneeseen tunkeutuu sotilas (Ilari
Johansson). Cate onnistuu pakenemaan ennen
sotilaan saapumista ja Ian jää kaksin sotilaan
kanssa. Ian joutuu kohtaamaan sisällissodan
julmuuden ja nöyryytyksen, jossa kuolema ei ole
pahinta mitä voi tapahtua. Kaupunkisota
henkilöiden ympärillä löytää vastaavuutensa
ihmisistä itsestään ja kasvattaa näin
reaalista maailmaa sekä henkilöiden
mielenmaisemaa rinnakkain".
